We specialise in all aspects of Family Law and hold a Public Funding (formerly ‘Legal Aid’) Franchise for those who are eligible.
Our practice areas are:
In most cases when the parties separate either by way of divorce or co-habitation it involves children. We aim to achieve the best results for the client by advising the client to put their children’s needs first so that they are able to retain a good relationship with both parents. Mediation is often the best first step but it is not always possible to agree and in those circumstances the Court can make orders about any aspect of a child’s life. If you cannot agree with the other parent then we will pursue your case firmly but always with the aim of enabling co-operation with each other as parents in the future.
We act on behalf of parents in cases where the Local Authority decide to commence court proceedings where they are concerned that the children are at risk.
We have a track record of achieving successful financial settlements, whether this be by way of mediation, round table meetings or court proceedings. We aim to take a constructive and sensitive approach to resolving the financial issues as speedily as possible.
Sometimes in the event of a breakdown of a relationship domestic abuse is involved. The Court can make an order to prevent someone from harassing you and to leave the property. We are able to assist in making an urgent application to the Court if the case is serious enough.
As to costs we have a fixed rate for undefended divorce cases (from £650 plus VAT plus Court Fees), and an hourly rate for all other matters unless you are eligible for Public Funding.
If you have made an appointment to see us, please make sure you bring along with you, your marriage certificate, evidence of your income if you think you will be eligible for Public Funding, two forms of ID for our records such as a passport, driving licence or a utility bill which is no more than three months old.
